Medium-chain triglycerides (MCT) are medium-length saturated fats that occur in, among other things, coconut oil. The body uses thesefats as an energy source. Well-known examples are C8 (caprylic acid) and C10 (capric acid).
MCTs are interesting if you follow aketogenic diet. This diet consists of a high fat and low carbohydrate intake. Due to the lack of carbohydrates, the body switches to burning fats. This process, also known as ketosis, is supported by MCTs. That's why MCT powder is often called keto powder.
